Gearing up for its annual Autumn Bull Sale on Thursday, 13th March, Riddellvue is presenting one of the heaviest and most structurally sound lineups of 18-month-old bulls the stud has ever offered.
Stud principal Ian Bates says this draft is a testament to decades of careful breeding, with bulls selected for temperament, calving ease, fertility, and structural correctness.
“This is the heaviest set of bulls I’ve ever put up. We’ve used three standout sires – Baldridge Alternative, Reiland Ricochet, and Kidman Impact – and their sons are built for performance,” Bates said.
“Ricochet’s bloodlines have delivered excellent temperament and frame scores, while his powerhouse sire Kidman Impact’s progeny have consistently ranked in our top pens.”
Mr Bates has always trusted his instincts when selecting sires, focusing on what works in the paddock rather than chasing numbers.
His approach has paid off, with strong interest Riddellvue genetics, particularly from Hereford breeders looking to introduce black genetics into their herds.
“In the current market, with 30,000 head moving through the yards, we’re seeing strong demand for genuine, high-quality black cattle,” he said. “Victorian cattle are performing well, and commercial producers know they can rely on our bulls to get the job done.”
The 30 bulls on offer this March are designed to meet the needs of Market-Savvy beef breeders. These sires combine depth, muscle, and adaptability, making them well-suited for various operations.
“There’s a bull in this sale to suit all types of commercial breeders,” Bates said. “We’ve focused on structural soundness, fertility, and outcross genetics to ensure these sires deliver long-term performance in any herd.”
The sale bulls will be available for pre-sale inspection on Friday 28th February from 10am to 3pm.
